About The Event
Join local historians Thomas Gears and Raymond Harrington online on Thursday, September 10th for a special viewing party of Delaware's first amusement park: Brandywine Springs! If you have ever wandered through the park and wondered about it's history, this event is for you. See Delaware in 1903 come to life with crowds, the trolleys, children at play, and amusements in action as filmed by the Edison Company. This documentary is Delaware film history! Witness these historic Edison films, their backstory, and the amazing story of how they managed to survive. Event Schedule: 6:30 pm - Come hang out with us before the event begins, learn how to make specialty themed beverages and enjoy casual conversation. 7:00 pm - Viewing party begins, watch a short documentary on the history of Brandywine Springs Park, "The Almost Forgotten History of the Red Clay Valley: A Short History of Brandywine Springs" 7:30 pm - Watch original 1903 footage of Delaware and Brandywine Springs Park 8:00 pm - Enjoy a Q&A with local historians Thomas Gears and Raymond Harrington 8:30 pm - Event adjourns Admission to this program is free, though donations are graciously accepted.
